Leading improvement

Whether you want a helping hand with lesson observation and self-evaluation techniques, a head start in preparation for the new single quality framework for pre-school children or some ideas to make your interactive whiteboard live up to expectations - we have a solution for you.

Our series of professional development DVDs can deliver a sustainable programme for all primary staff and can do so at a fraction of the cost of a single day's training session.

You can use the DVDs as a stand-alone tool or incorporate them into the professional development you currently offer your staff. Nothing is scripted or set up in the lessons we have featured. The accompanying CD-rom contains evidence forms (EFs) completed by an experienced team trained in the new framework.

And unlike 'live' lessons, you can pause, rewind and skip ahead as you need to, while key questions posed by the inspectors prompt discussion and give you a chance to benchmark your opinions with others.

You can use your DVDs in weekly staff meetings, for in-house professional development, for discussions with inexperienced teachers, as a self-evaluation benchmark - you can even use them to show your governors examples of good teaching. Your options are endless.

What's in the DVD packs?

Leadership is addressed in this set of DVDs by providing an overview of each school's journey in developing:

  • the climate for learning

  • the broader curriculum

  • learning and teaching

  • assessment for and of learning

  • monitoring and evaluation.

The lessons featured take place in schools which are, to a greater or lesser degree, in challenging circumstances.

These DVDs form an essential part of our self-evaluation support programme. Learning and teaching coordinators will find them invaluable in developing practice both in schools and teacher training institutions.

What are the benefits?
